Nakhon Sawan is just a 3-4 hour ride away from Bangkok, and it's home to Thailand No.1 UFO Hot Spot, called Khao Kala hill. 🛸⛰️ If you want to satisfy your curiosity for the paranormal or go UFO hunting, this is the perfect place. (...but Nakhon Sawan has more to offer too!)
First things first - The Khao Kala UFO mountain is located in a town called Nakhon Sawan and there are several possibilities to get there!
Transport: Bangkok <> Nakhon Sawan
🚙 Car: 3-4 hours Just click on the link, get behind the wheel, put on some good music, because you're going on a roadtrip. Hell yeah! Going to Nakhon Sawan by car is your best option. If you don't own a car, ask a friend or rent one from Haupcar! You will pass the ancient city of Ayutthaya on your way and come across plenty of cool gas station stops to refuel & refresh. 🚊 Train: 3-5 hours Depending on which train you catch, you can make your way to Bang Sue Grand Station and head over to Nakhon Sawan by train. It's a nightmare to book train tickets here in Thailand, but your best bet is to visit https://12go.asia/en or get a ticket at the station beforehand. There is a fast train available that takes a little longer than 2,5 hours, but you absolutely have to get tickets for this one beforehand, since it sells out fast! 🛩️ Airplane: 1 hour
Yup, there is an option for you to fly to Nakhon Sawan. Flight time is just 55 minutes, but given you will have to get to the airport, check-in, check-out and all that Jazz, this is probably the least best and most expensive (and most environmentally evil) option.
P.S.: If you want to check-in as close as possible to the actual UFO hill, you best get a room at the 🏨 Tamsabai Hotel. Any other hotel is fine too, this one is just the closest one, since the UFO hill is located about 20 minutes east from the city.
Getting to the Khao Kala UFO Hill
First of all, you will not be able (or at least I wouldn't recommend it) to just drive up Khao Kala hill yourself. There is large farm house at the foot of the hill that belongs to a community called S.Cobra Camp.
🐍 S.Cobra Camp Yes, it is officially labeled a "Children's Camp" for some reason, and impossible to find on google yourself if you have no idea what you are searching for. Best contact J.Num on facebook to let him know about your arrival. He's the camps leader and will happily take you up the hill for a small fee. (I really don't remember the price, but I think it was about 400 Baht) 🥃 UFO Bar FYI, there is also a UFO themed bar at S.Cobra Camp.
⛰️ Khao Kala Hilltop
Once you made your way up, you can oversee the entire area from the top observatory. You will also encounter several small artifact and a beautiful shrine of the Naga Snake Buddha, surrounded by many little figurines.
⛺️ Camping at Khao Khala Hill
Given that most extraterrestrial activity usually takes place at night, it is common for people to camp out at the foot of the hill or on top of the hill itself. S.Cobra camp has offered us to sleep over, but we havn't had time - You best reach out about prices & accommodation ahead of time, but the group seems to organize & offer those sleep-overs for groups visiting. I have also seen & heard about group meditation sessions being organized frequently as well to attract the appearance of "Roku" (Loku) the Alien.
Roku the Alien
Roku or... Loku (I think I might have mixed that up) is the Alien that is visiting Khao Kala occasionally. He (or she) is in touch with the Khao Kala UFO community to warn them about upcoming events & desasters.
Loku is short for "Loku Kata Paka Dikong", which is his planet of origin. If you want to get to know more about him and the history of Loku & Khao Kala, you can probably best reach out to the group via facebook and ask if they'll grant you permission to their community house. Just make sure to bring a Thai friend along or get ready to fire up your best translator app!
The little Alien-Themed Cafe
☕️ Alien Cafe
If you have watched my UFO episode on Youtube, you know that this little cafe was our entree point to, basically the entire episode... The lady working there got us in contact with the Khao Kala UFO group and they then contacted and lead us to S.Cobra Camp, before we eventually ended up going to the Belief Fest 2024 a couple months later in January.
The Belief Fest
I really hope the organizers keep putting this event on every year in Nakhon Sawan! We've just visited the Belief Fest 2024 by coincidence, going to Khao Kala two months prior, so it was the very first Belief Fest ever, and it seemed like not many people have gotten the memo about it. I expect much more people visiting it next year.
I can not tell you enough good things about the Belief Fest! Although it suffered from a lack of exposure and the crowd could've been bigger; it absolutely delivered! The organizers put up three different stages with really amazing visuals. I couldn't believe how good the sound-quality was and I'm still baffled how they've managed to separate the music, not spilling over even though all stages where located practically next to each other.
The main-act for the Belief Fest 2024 was Loso, a Thai band that drew the entire crowd in. We personally had no idea who this band was, but all artists that evening put on great music! The main stage played Thai mainstream music (everything from Thai Pop, Indie / Rock, Rap), and the third stage to the left mainly played acoustic music, but my absolute favorite stage was the second stage! That stage played absolutely fantastic EDM music all night long.
Hidden Gem: Nakhon Sawan
Lucky for me, I was accompanied by Todd Ruiz, who is a passionate Journalist and the owner of one of Bangkoks coolest retro-futuristic bars called Arcadia Barcade! He scouted a few cool spots we visited in Nakhon Sawan and on our way back to Bangkok.
Nakhon Sawan is famous for the rivers merging and forming Thailand's biggest river, called the Chao Phraya River. Pasaan is an amazing, contemporary monument with a fantastic museum on the ground floor! (actually it's underground, below the monument)
Old Observation Tower with an amazing 360° view of the city. Entree fee is just 40 Baht.
🍛 Ban Lek There are various amazing restaurants and coffee shops in Nakhon Sawan. This one was our favorite one for some delivious Thai cuisine.
On the way to/from Nakhon Sawan
Ancient Siamese City and former Capital of the Siamese Kingdom. 🗡️ Sing Buri A must see if you're a fan of Thai history and the famous tale of the battle at Bang Rajan! There is also a movie made about it which Oliver Stone was involved in producing. Visiting Sing Buri you can head over to the monument that depicts the warriors defending the village from the Burmese intruders. P.S. The Bang Rajan movie soundtrack is really dope! It is also Buakaw's Walk-In Song!
Stay safe and always remember: The truth is out there!
🛸 Have a great time in Nakhon Sawan & Khao Kala Hill! Let me know about your experience or about any other good UFO spots in Thailand!
