Best THINGS TO DO in Bangkok - EP2

Episode 2 | 2023 🌴 🍗 🍸 🏋🏻 🧸

Check out the best things to do in Bangkok! This is a recurring episode of all amazing places & hidden gems I uncovered filming my recent vlogs. Find all links & locations below the video! ⬇

1. Chatuchak Park

Many people know about Chatuchak Market in Bangkok, but right next to it is Chatuchak Park. This isn't just any park. It has the Queen Sirikit Flower Park, lots of places for outdoor activities, and gyms. One of the best spots is the Butterfly Garden, near the park's eastern entrance. If you're around, it's well worth taking a walk in this park!

2. BIRDIES Bangkok

In the middle of Bangkok, close to EmQuartier in Phrom Phong, there's a restaurant called "BIRDIES BANGKOK." It's not just any fried chicken place. Here, you can enjoy fried chicken with some fancy starters and a good choice of wines. It's getting popular, so if you want to go, it's a good idea to book a table ahead of time.

3. Visit a Hidden Bar

After a good meal, why not try something different? Bangkok has many hidden bars. One good choice is "Sugar Ray, you've just been poisoned," especially if you're coming from Birdies.

If you're looking for other options, there are many hidden bars to check out for a fun night.

4. Outdoor Gym Bangkok (FREE)

Bangkok has many free outdoor gyms. One of the best is at Suan Luang Rama 9 Park. It's called Outdoor Gym Bangkok, opens early at sunrise and is in remarkable condition for an outdoor gym!

Some parks might ask you for a small 20 Baht fee to enter the facilities (especially during tourist season), but that's still a great bargain, considering that gyms can get quite expensive here in Bangkok.

5. Mega Plaza Mall

In Chinatown, there's a place called MEGA PLAZA Mall. It's not like other malls. It has six floors filled with toys, anime stuff, and collectible cards. Two floors even have old cameras and softair guns. It might sound strange, but that's what makes it interesting. If you're looking for something different, this is a place to check out.

I often visit Mega Plaza once every couple of months just to see what's new or to check if I can score a great deal on an analogue camera!

Patpong - The Secret History of Bangkok's Notorious Nightlife District 💃🏻

Patpong - The Secret History of Bangkok's Notorious Nightlife District 💃🏻

This episode uncovers Patpong's evolution, from its roots in a banana plantation to one of Southeast Asia's most modern business & nightlife districts, which was center stage to covert CIA operations during the Secret War in Laos. Discover the impact of Air America, expat bars post-Vietnam War, and the notorious figures who called Patpong home. Join me as I interview the owner of the legendary Bar Madrid and a former Air America pilot, revealing untold stories of covert operations, nightlife, and infamous characters like Jack Shirley, Tony Poe & Charles Sobhraj, "The Serpent." Explore the intriguing intersections of history, war, and nightlife that shaped Patpong into the vibrant area it is today. ⚠️Important Correction: Coppola denies that Poe was a primary influence for Colonel Kurtz and says the character was loosely based on Special Forces Colonel Robert B. Rheault. Although the similarities to Tony Poe are striking, and it’s widely stated online & in museums, it was never confirmed by the director himself. --------- 📕 Bangkok Babylon | Giveaway I give away one copy of this Bangkok classic by Jerry Hopkins, who encountered, talked to & wrote stories about many of the character from this episode.
