Best HIDDEN BARs ๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿฅƒ in Bangkok, Thailand

Did you know that Bangkok is home to a lot of amazing hidden bars? ๐Ÿ”Ž Tucked away behind ordinary-looking doors and side streets, these aren't your average bars; they're special spots where classy vibes and top-notch drinks mix for an unforgettable night out.

Sugar Ray, You've Just Been Poisoned

How to find the entrance?

Hint: Search for the light in the dark alleyway next to the Davis Hotel ๐Ÿ’ก

Hint: Swirl around the eateries inside the glass building next to the Davis Hotel until you find the door ๐Ÿฃ

Sugar Ray Bangkok Hidden Bar

Sugar Ray has expert mixologists working on your drinks. This bar has all the drinks to mix you whatever drink you and your friends fancy. They also have a rotating menu of signature drinks & mocktails you have to try out!

I can recommend Ultraviolette ๐Ÿธ which is a cold poured Tequila or Killer Queen ๐Ÿน which is a light, delicious cocktail topped up with burned cream.

Sugar Ray Bangkok Hidden Bar Youve been poisoned

Sugar Ray, You've Just Been Poisoned is the first Bar I take my friends too when they're in town! It is just a really lovely, cool place that allows for a good conversation. I always worry overselling this place, but so far, all of my friends loved it! :D

You can take the BTS to Phrom Phong and either walk down to Sugar Ray, or take a motorbike taxi. It's close to a lot of cool places, one of them is my favorite Japanese Onsen, called Yunomori!

Ku Bar

How to find the entrance?

Hint: Just go inside the DeCommune building and check out the different floors ๐Ÿญ

Ku Bar Bangkok

Located discreetly down an alley inside an old building, this spot might seem elusive, but it unveils a sophisticated setting dominated by wooden and concrete aesthetics. Ku Bar frequently update their cocktail offerings to spotlight local ingredients.

Most of the time, I go for their Grilled Pandan ๐Ÿฅƒ - It doesn't only tastes good, but I always enjoy the way they prepare it. (I like the fire...)

Ku Bar has a certain unique atmosphere to it. You have to go and visit this bar yourself. I'd say this is my most favorite bar to go to alone or with a good friend to reflect or brainstorm a project.

There is a code of conduct displayed next to the entrance. This is not a "party bar", it's a classy bar where you can enjoy a good drink.

Located just a few minutes away from Khao San road, you can definitely extend your evening by biking over, or you can just checkout DeCommune located in the same building on a weekend. They put on great DJ & Live-Music events!

Midsummer Night's Dream

Hint: Look for the flowers ๐ŸŒท

It was my first time at this bar filming my vlog. I have visited a lot of different hidden bars beforehand, but for some reason, none of them really resonated with me. I took a gamble and visited Midsummer Night's Dream with my camera... and it pleasantly surprised me!

This bar has very beautiful interior and a rich selection of signature cocktails. I went for Oberon The King ๐Ÿฅƒ,

The Bars name & theme is inspired by Shakespeare's Midsummers Night's Dream. It offers very comfortable seating for all group-sizes and also features a very beautiful Gin Bar upstairs.

Midsummer Night's Dream is located in Thonglor which is home to many other hidden bars worth mentioning (scroll down below). Thonglor is a very vibrant area that is best reached by BTS. You can easily extend your evening by going out to explore the nightlife around or walk over to the Major Cineplex in Sukhumvit for a good movie!

Arcadia Barcade

Arcadia Barcade was voted the Top 2 Best Theme Bar in Bangkok by Bangkok Magazine in 2023. Rightfully so! This bar offers a unique vibe with it's colorful retro interior, arcades, a wide variety of drinks & a fine selection of weed.

Arcadia is not really a hidden bar, but a hidden gem tucked away in a small side-street in Phra Khanong!

Todd, the owner of Arcadia has always something going on for you! The bar frequently organizes Gaming Events & Tournaments. You can also just drop by at any time, buy a stack of coins and try to eternalize yourself on the Highscore-List!

Besides gaming, Arcadia organizes various events like Stand-Up, Movie Nights, Parties and even Rooftop-Wrestling events! Just follow them on Instagram and show up to something that catches your attention. I'll guarantee you'll have a great time!

Sometimes, there are holidays in Thailand where the sale of alcohol is prohibited. Bars usually close around those days, but Arcadia always turns it into some sort of Kratom-Event where they sell Kratom Sodas (OG Kratom), Mocktails & all sorts of Softdrinks!

You can best reach Arcadia by arriving at BTS Phrom Phong and walk over. Arcadia also serves food and has partnered with several restaurants from the area to have your feast delivered straight to your table.

Make sure to give Arcadia Barcade a visit next time you around the area! ๐Ÿ‘พ

Patpong - The Secret History of Bangkok's Notorious Nightlife District ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

This episode uncovers Patpong's evolution, from its roots in a banana plantation to one of Southeast Asia's most modern business & nightlife districts, which was center stage to covert CIA operations during the Secret War in Laos. Discover the impact of Air America, expat bars post-Vietnam War, and the notorious figures who called Patpong home. Join me as I interview the owner of the legendary Bar Madrid and a former Air America pilot, revealing untold stories of covert operations, nightlife, and infamous characters like Jack Shirley, Tony Poe & Charles Sobhraj, "The Serpent." Explore the intriguing intersections of history, war, and nightlife that shaped Patpong into the vibrant area it is today. โš ๏ธImportant Correction: Coppola denies that Poe was a primary influence for Colonel Kurtz and says the character was loosely based on Special Forces Colonel Robert B. Rheault. Although the similarities to Tony Poe are striking, and itโ€™s widely stated online & in museums, it was never confirmed by the director himself. --------- ๐Ÿ“• Bangkok Babylon | Giveaway I give away one copy of this Bangkok classic by Jerry Hopkins, who encountered, talked to & wrote stories about many of the character from this episode.
