Updated: Jul 16, 2023

With average high temperatures hovering around a scorching 34 degrees Celsius (93 degrees Fahrenheit), cooling down becomes an essential part of any Bangkok itinerary. Here are the best Spa's & Spot's to cool down in the city!

Yunomorie Onsen & Spa

Yunomori Onsen & Spa in Bangkok offers a unique fusion of Japanese onsen (hot spring) culture and traditional Thai massage techniques. Nestled in the heart of the city, this wellness retreat is famed for its array of thermal baths infused with minerals, creating a relaxing and health-boosting environment. From soothing hot baths to invigorating cold plunges, and comforting saunas to calming relaxation rooms, Yunomori provides an authentic Onsen experience to refresh and rejuvenate!

Coupled with their wide range of therapeutic massage and spa treatments, it's a perfect oasis to escape from the city's heat and indulge in some much-needed self-care.

Yunomori is my most favorite place to calm-down after a busy week! There are very few places that offer such great quality & service at such an affordable rate.

There are two great Spa's that offer a private sauna experience for dates or couples. If you want to enjoy the sauna together, here are my two most favorite private spa's!

P.s.: Those do not offer cold plunges! ❌🧊❌

°CRYO

Cryotherapy involves “super-cooling” one’s body for medical or therapeutic reasons. The benefits of cryotherapy stem from reducing the surface temperature of the skin to 4°C in order to increase blood circulation throughout the body and reduce inflammation. Just do a quick online search and you’ll find a lot of benefits for cryotherapy.

I can only recommend to try out CRYO at least once, to see if you enjoy it. After spending about 3:30 Min., I felt refreshed, rejuvenated & energetic for the entire day. The people at CRYO in Thonglor are great! They'll make sure to run a check-up on you, guide you through the entire process and safeguard you at all times.

A really small, but cool detail: You can choose your favorite music-track to play while you spend your time in the cold chamber! 🥶 🎶

Bangkok Icebaths

📍Various Locations around Bangkok

Bangkok Ice Bath is an Ice Bath Community based in Bangkok that meets regularly to take Ice Baths, meet like-minded people, and enjoy the many benefits of Cold Exposure.

When you combine Ice Baths with a community of friendly, supportive and like-minded people, you have something truly beneficial for your mind and body. Bangkok Ice Bath exists to make the benefits of cold exposure accessible to everyone in Bangkok and to build community.

A truly amazing experience! Reach out to Bangkok Icebaths on Social Media to check out their latest events. This is a lively & lovely community that comes together (currently) every Saturday at Crusio Cafe to enjoy taking ice baths. 🧊 ☕️

They are very kind and welcoming, which is especially great if you have never tried to take an ice bath before! The organizers will give you tips & tricks to help with your first cold plunge and help you throughout your entire stay inside the tub!

It is very affordable. After paying the entree fee, you can take as many turns as you like. Give it a try & see if you enjoy it! Bangkok Icebaths definitely won me over :)

P.S.: Bangkok Icebaths will soon open up their own location! 🏢 🛁 🧊 Stay tuned! Once they open, I will be the first one to report it.

Public Pools

There are a few public pools in & around Bangkok that offer a welcoming opportunity to cool down & go for a swim. Please make sure to visit the location prior to taking a swim, because you might be required to go through a signup process, present a medical certificate or clear a few thing prior before actually making into the pool.

I will keep on adding different locations to this article, but so far, the swimming pool of the Khlong Toei Youth Center inside Benchasiri Park looks the best to me! It has been recently renovated and it's located in the heart of Bangkok!

Patpong - The Secret History of Bangkok's Notorious Nightlife District 💃🏻

This episode uncovers Patpong's evolution, from its roots in a banana plantation to one of Southeast Asia's most modern business & nightlife districts, which was center stage to covert CIA operations during the Secret War in Laos. Discover the impact of Air America, expat bars post-Vietnam War, and the notorious figures who called Patpong home. Join me as I interview the owner of the legendary Bar Madrid and a former Air America pilot, revealing untold stories of covert operations, nightlife, and infamous characters like Jack Shirley, Tony Poe & Charles Sobhraj, "The Serpent." Explore the intriguing intersections of history, war, and nightlife that shaped Patpong into the vibrant area it is today. ⚠️Important Correction: Coppola denies that Poe was a primary influence for Colonel Kurtz and says the character was loosely based on Special Forces Colonel Robert B. Rheault. Although the similarities to Tony Poe are striking, and it’s widely stated online & in museums, it was never confirmed by the director himself. --------- 📕 Bangkok Babylon | Giveaway I give away one copy of this Bangkok classic by Jerry Hopkins, who encountered, talked to & wrote stories about many of the character from this episode.
