Best FREE Outdoor Gyms 💪 in Bangkok, Thailand

Yes, you can workout for free in Bangkok, and you'll be surprised how well equipped those Outdoor Gyms are! No more excuses - it's time to get yolked, bro.

Free outdoor gyms in Bangkok, Thailand, are a great option for those looking to get in shape and enjoy the city's beautiful weather. These gyms are well-equipped with various workout equipment such as pull-up bars, free weights, cable stations, and more.

Working out at these outdoor gyms is a unique and enjoyable experience as it allows you to exercise in an open-air environment, surrounded by the city's vibrant energy. Whether you're a local resident or just visiting the city, free outdoor gyms in Bangkok are a fantastic way to stay active and healthy!

1. Lumphini Park Outdoor Gyms - Lumphini (Sala Daeng BTS | Si Lom MRT)

📍Main Outdoor Gym https://goo.gl/maps/3j5UwaisDthRCeb99 📍Second Outdoor Gym https://goo.gl/maps/8vjVdAfvvTWhzbcm9 📍(NEW) Outdoor Gym & Stretching Area https://goo.gl/maps/EYu7XvKy1WzMmrcG9

📍(NEW) Stretching Area https://goo.gl/maps/crAPabuyGw1VYRib9

Lumphini Park offers quite a few options to get a good workout in - You can visit one of the two outdoor gyms, as well as the newly installed outdoor gym & stretching stations tagged on the links above.

The park is also great to go for a run in the morning and warm up before you actually start lifting some heavy weights!

The entrance is generally for free! During tourist season you might get asked to chip-in some 20-40 Baht for maintaining the outdoor gym by the person who oversees it, but more often than not you can work out here for free if you opt-in for a short workout or come visit regularly.

The new outdoor gym as well as the stretching stations located throughout the park are free of use, even during tourist season!

2. Suan Luang Rama IX Park (Outdoor Fitness Center) - Prawet

This is probably the best maintained gym on my list! It is also, unfortunately, the furthest away from Bangkok's City Center, located all the way in Prawet.

If you are tired of visiting the same old parks and want to get active, the Rama IX Park offers plenty more activities than just the gym. Especially on weekend mornings, this park is frequented by a lot of people who go for a run, workout, open-air dance-fit session or for a day out at the lake.

There is no shortage of machines and free weights for exercising - What stands out most are the various different cable-machines inside the Outdoor Fitness Centre at Rama IX Park! You will find cable-machines in other outdoor gyms as well, but I have never seen so many of them in such a good condition!

3. Chaloem Phra Kiat Forest Park Gym - Khlong Tong Sai (Saphan Taksin BTS)

A little bit of a hidden gem, this part is located a few minutes off the Sathorn / Silom area. The gym is located in a small, but amazing park that also features a soccer field, basketball & volleyball field, as well as plenty of Kickball fields and a Muay Thai Boxing Ring!

The outdoor gym itself offer enough to get a good workout in - A unique feature of this gym are the bars & logs that can be untilized for calisthenics, free weight exercises and stretches.

As with all outdoor gyms, the people coming here are really nice. You can safely leave your bags in the common area and get in on a chat or ask the people around for help!

Please keep in mind to not leave any trashes behind or damage any of the equipment. You don't necessarily have to put back the weights in the exact same place, but please do not slam or throw around stuff!

EXTRA OPTIONS TO CONSIDER

4. H.M. King IX Park Gym - Bang Khlo (Rama IX Bridge)

5. Rommaninat Park Gym (Old Prison) - Samran Rat (Sam Yot MRT)

WORKOUT SAFE & MORE EFFECTIVE

There are a few cool & inexpensive items that will make your FREE Outdoor Workout better! I have listed a few things I regularly carry with me to the gym - If you're already in Thailand, I provide links to Lazada / Shopee, if you live abroad, I am providing affiliate links to amazon below!

Gym Bag (String Bag)

Simple & cheap string bag to carry all your items.

Towel (Microfiber)

Antibacterial, dries fast and lighter than cotton. Not everyones cup of tea tho! Effective fighting sweat, but in my opinion it does't feel that nice on skin. 🌎 https://amzn.to/3Y1zE2t 🇹🇭 https://www.lazada.co.th/products/microfiber-towel-sp110-i3105780358-s11485949165.html?

Workout Gloves

Controversial, as a lot of athletes question the effectiveness of gloves during workouts, but I like to keep them in my bag to mitigate the risk of injury and to keep my hands clean...

Resistance Bands

Probably the most important thing in my gym-bag! Bands help you to maximize the variety of exercises, the angles you can work with, and they can also be used to add more weight (resistance) or support (ease) pull-ups and dips.

Grip Handle

This is a very recent addition to my bag, but an effective one! A pair of grip handles will allow you to variate your grip easily on all types of cable-machines as well as on pull-up bars or even free weight exercises like deadlifts.

Alcohol Spray / Sanitizer Outdoor Gyms in Bangkok are well maintained, but that doesn't mean they are cleaned or sanitized as frequently as paid indoor gyms. This little helper will keep things clean.

Have a good workout! Comment below if you have other good suggestions to add to my Gym-Bag!

Patpong - The Secret History of Bangkok's Notorious Nightlife District 💃🏻

This episode uncovers Patpong's evolution, from its roots in a banana plantation to one of Southeast Asia's most modern business & nightlife districts, which was center stage to covert CIA operations during the Secret War in Laos. Discover the impact of Air America, expat bars post-Vietnam War, and the notorious figures who called Patpong home. Join me as I interview the owner of the legendary Bar Madrid and a former Air America pilot, revealing untold stories of covert operations, nightlife, and infamous characters like Jack Shirley, Tony Poe & Charles Sobhraj, "The Serpent." Explore the intriguing intersections of history, war, and nightlife that shaped Patpong into the vibrant area it is today. ⚠️Important Correction: Coppola denies that Poe was a primary influence for Colonel Kurtz and says the character was loosely based on Special Forces Colonel Robert B. Rheault. Although the similarities to Tony Poe are striking, and it’s widely stated online & in museums, it was never confirmed by the director himself. --------- 📕 Bangkok Babylon | Giveaway I give away one copy of this Bangkok classic by Jerry Hopkins, who encountered, talked to & wrote stories about many of the character from this episode.
